Ladder rules
Please note rule # 12 below regarding new players affecting rankings, especially early in the season when new players join frequently.
The bottom ranked player moves down to the next box
Exceptions to the above guidelines are as follows:
For the top ladder box, the two bottom ranked players move down
For the second ladder box, the two top ranked players move up
For the bottom ladder box, the two top ranked players move up
For the second last ladder box, the two bottom ranked players move down
12. New players may be inserted into a box or current players removed (at their request) from a box, affecting the ranking of players in subsequent boxes.
13. A player who knows that they will not be available for the next week's ladder (or are dropping out of the ladder) must advise the LO, who will remove the player and re-rank other players
14. A player returning from a one or two week absence will be ranked at least one position lower than the re-ranked position when they left (subject to higher ranked new players joining the ladder)
15. If a round robin is not played, the two bottom ranked players from that box will move down for the next ladder and be replaced by the top two re-ranked players from the lower box
16. Players may join the next ladder by signing up during the current week and providing their best guesstimate of which ladder box represents their level of play (to assist the LO only)
17. The LO has the sole determination of where any new player will be placed into the ladder, with assistance from the executive if so desired, regardless of the new player's opinion.
18. The LO has the sole right to remove a ladder player indefinitely who is determined to be the cause of round robin games not being completed (emphasizing the importance of players advising the LO of their unavailability)
- The initial ladder placement/rankings are estimated by the Ladder Organizer (LO), with assistance from the executive if so desired. Placement is not critical since ladder play will eventually sort out rankings.
- Ladder is updated and posted every week by the ladder organizer
- Any player wishing to join the ladder must notify the ladder organizer (Use form under ladder menu)
- A round robin is played within each ladder box by the date indicated
- Arranging and playing round robin games is the responsibility of the ladder players on whichever court is available
- Each game is played as first to 11 points - (no 2 point lead)
- 45 minutes is allocated for each set (or until the scheduled end time for that box) - If the third game starts with 5 minutes or less left in the alloted time, the third game will be played with rally scoring, where each rally results in a point scored
- Points are totaled after all three games are played
- At the end of the week the LO will re-rank players and post a new ladder
- If a tie of total points exists, the re-ranking will favor the player scoring higher the previous week
- The general guideline for establishing the new ladder are as follows:
The bottom ranked player moves down to the next box

For the top ladder box, the two bottom ranked players move down
For the second ladder box, the two top ranked players move up
